How can naturopathy help?
Modern naturopathy offers a holistic approach to health and wellness. It combines modern science with age old wisdom to treat the whole person, with emphasis on prevention, individualized care, and the body's inherent ability to heal itself. Naturopathy can support general health and well-being; unexplained signs and symptoms like fatigue, headaches, poor concentration, skin issues; nutrient deficiencies, genetic predispositions like methylation polymorphisms; and specific conditions like those affecting the nervous, digestive, endocrine and immune systems.
Clematis stem, light micrograph: anti-inflammatory, antimicrobial, antioxidant; traditionally used for rheumatism, gout, headaches, varicose veins,
syphilis, bone disorders, chronic skin conditions, and fluid retention
our team
Tereena Lucas
Naturopath & Functional Medicine Practitioner
I am the very proud mum of twin young men, and share a love of travel with my dear parents, sister, and husband. Over the years I have worked in several different fields including hospitality, the jewellery industry, public health, and as a coronial investigator. I consider myself an enthusiastic life-long learner and have a broad education across health and science that has focused on biochemistry, microbiology, genetics, and mental health. I first came to appreciate naturopathy as a teenager who had psoriasis all over my face and through my scalp following a car accident. Over my life I have also had to contend with significant autoimmune, liver, endocrine, and lipedema issues, and have relied on the principles and therapies of naturopathy for my own health and wellbeing. I can thereby attest to their value in supporting our bodies' innate wisdom, and am passionate about holistic health care.
With combined use of lifestyle adjustments, optimized nutrition, natural remedies, advanced scientific testing, and a thoughtful approach, I aim to listen, share, treat, educate and empower others so that they may experience their own vibrant health and wellbeing. A fundamental belief I hold is that that we are all stronger than we are weaker, and because I know my own strength, I believe in yours. I am an out-of-the-box thinker, even when that is not popular. I am passionate about environmental toxic exposures and am currently a PhD candidate at Edith Cowan University where my project aims to highlight the dangers posed to families by use of fipronil-containing products that are commonly used for pet flea treatments and as insect pesticides. I additionally have special interests in liver and kidney conditions, fetal alcohol spectrum disorder, inborn errors and challenges of metabolism like PKU, A1AT, MTHFR, lipedema, as well as migraines, eye health, digestive and adrenal disorders, infectious diseases and chronic infections, and the spectrum of mental health conditions.
More recently I have undertaken training in corneotherapy, defined as a remedial skin treatment methodology centered around the repair and maintenance of the skin barrier defense systems. Corneotherapy aligns perfectly with the principles of naturopathy, where the aim is to nourish, balance and support self-repair using skin care products that are free of preservatives, fragrances and emulsifiers. I am pleased to be able to provide individualized prescriptive skin care that is customisable to any skin or condition.
If you are in need of thoughtful holistic support, I look forward to working with you to achieve your health and beauty goals!
